Doug Wolf

About the smith:

Doug Wolf has been metal smithing for 40 years and has worked in just about every field of metal fabrication there is from art and sculpture, machining, welding, sheet metal, Blacksmithing, Whitesmithing, Silversmithing, Redsmithing, to iron working.

In the early '90's he worked as a professional metal artist at Tribal Scenery in in Los Angeles, CA then later moving back to his native city of Detroit, MI to make blades.

Over 30 years ago he started making blades professionally but has taken a long hiatus from doing so. Some of you may own a knife, sword, or throwing weapon made by him back in the 90's, well, he's back.

Doug specializes in damascus blades, multi-bar pattern welded blades, forged mokume-gane, and Viking era weapons, many of which are not commonly found these days.

From the Smith:

"Since I was a kid I was fascinated by knives, swords, and axes. While other kids my age would doodle race cars and fire trucks in school I designed weapons. I started collecting weapons at 10, I made my first blade at 12 out of a scrap piece of sheet metal. It was a crude thing, but I've come a long way since then. I began my journey into metal smithing at 12 years old doing under the table jobs and I started my first above the board job at 13 in an engineering shop. Since then I've worked in just about every facet of the metal world. When it comes to things made of steel, if you can think of it then I've probably made it at some point.

These days, I do things a bit differently, a bit more... oldschool.

I have lived my life in the same manner as the medieval journeymen of old. I've traveled full-time for a living never staying in any one place for too long, I carried all of my tools and equipment with me, I've learned under every smith I could spend time with, but more importantly I teach as often as I get the opportunity. Mine is a journey of learning, teaching, and creating.

My mission is to re-capture the ancient magic of the smith's trade to produce superior quality armor, weapons, and tools meant for actual real-world use and offer them to you. Each day when I light my forge I gather leaves, pine cones, and twigs, to start the coal fire so that a little bit of the forest is in every piece produced. Everything I make is made to be used and abused, and I back my work up with a lifetime warranty because weapons should not only beautiful, they should be completely functional and reliable.

So follow along on my social media pages, if you will, and share my adventures, and if you happen to catch me on the road, perhaps we can create something together."
